Comair will fly a Boeing 737- 800 to St Helena providing the results are favourable from the Air Safety Support International Audit that is due to commence after the arrival of the Bombardier Business jet on Sunday. This flight will be an implementation flight to the Island from Johannesburg to prepare for the commencement of the scheduled air service. The main objective of the implementation flight is to access the route to St Helena from Johannesburg along with assessment of the Airport airside operations, passenger and cargo handling and other aspects of training at the Airport. Dates and times of the flight are not available but will be made available to the public soon. The Airports official opening date is set for 21st May 2016.
